Research Interests

My major focus is portable parallelism. I hope to contribute to the widespread adoption of parallel programming; I envision a future in which parallel programming is easier, more productive, and more intuitive than current serial programming. In this vision, the lines blur between language, operating system, and development tools. Towards this future, I am at work on a platform for parallel software that includes a hardware-independent operating system interface, a pattern to express data parallelism, an extensible language, and am exploring the patterns and theory underlying parallelism and computation.
